In June of 1996 a mother of 3 daughters and a son and 13 grandchildren wrote to the Citizens Commission for Human Rights, (CCHR) a group which investigates psychiatric abuses established in 1969 by the church of Scientology, asking how can we make a difference for today’s youth?
Where do we start? A first step would be to recognize we are not alone. In 1994 in the “Rocky Mountain news” columnist Thomas Sowell wrote about his experience with the sales and promotional machinery that work behind the public face of psychology and psychiatry:
“I sat in on a session where psychological materials for the public schools were being promoted by a nation wide organization which conducts such sessions in cites across the country. Mistaking me for one of these “educators” a promoter explained to me privately how they operate and how they tie in with local mental health establishments in the cities they visit.
I have seen the handbook for teachers which tell them how to circumvent parents who object. I have also talked to parents around the country who have objected and were told they were the only ones who had objected, even when there were controversies and lawsuits over such material in many communities. This is part of a standard run around that parents are given. This is nothing less than a war! Psychologists and psychiatrists are contemptuous of parental control!
