Starbucks + Race + Hypocrisy
Starbucks newest "rant" is nothing short of sheer, flaming, blatant hypocrisy. But then, that is what the left excels at. It takes a politically correct stance, but underneath, there is always a hidden agenda. Is this move designed to draw more attention to make the entire issue of race much larger than it really is?
Yes, prejudice does exist on many issues in our society, However, will forcing a discussion on ANY topic upon one's customers who are waiting for their morning coffee bear fruit?
As the article below suggests, how about creating some economic opportunities in the areas and neighborhoods that need them the most.
We need less talk and more action, not only on the issue of race, but on many other problems created by the cultural divide pushed by those who seek to turn us against each other so as to gain total control for their own benefit.
Why Aren't There Starbucks in These Majority Black Cities?
I’m not a coffee drinker. In fact, I’ve only had one cup of coffee in my entire life. I was about ten years old. It was at my grandparents’ house during a family get together. There was a cup of coffee on the table. I picked it up and took a gulp. Big mistake. Somebody had put a cigarette out in it. I can still taste it.
My wife knows that if she wants to keep ice cream in the house she needs to buy coffee ice cream.
Even so, I know about Starbucks. They are everywhere . . . except it seems in many majority black cities and neighborhoods.
You are surely aware of the “Race Together” campaign sponsored by Starbucks. When I first heard it I wondered how it was going to work if people who were buying their overpriced caffeine fixes really wanted to talk about race. I’m sure the people standing in line and at the drive through would love to listen in on a 30-minute discussion as they're checking their new Apple watches for the time. Sure they would.
It's like people who ask how you're doing. Do they really want to know? Not really.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar had this to say on the subject, but as we’ll see there’s the “rest of the story” that the mainstream media are not reporting:
“Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz’s bold decision to encourage his baristas to discuss race relations with willing customers has filled me with shock and awe. I’m in awe of his courageous and good-hearted attempt to do something to bring about better awareness of racism. I’m in awe that he’s willing to put morality above profits. I’m in awe that he’s willing to endure the snarky ridicule and lame coffee jokes from pundits as well as the inevitable death threats from clueless trolls. All with nothing personally or corporately to gain — and a lot to lose.”
Talk is cheap. It’s actions that matter, what a person does based on what he says, otherwise he’s a hypocrite.
Writing "Race Together" on coffee cups may have had good intentions, but it won't fix a thing.

If Starbucks is really serious about Racing Together, the company might think about building some Starbuck Coffee Houses in majority black neighborhoods.
Jen Kuznicki at CNSNews writes:
“If Starbucks wants us to talk about race, let’s start with why they don’t have Starbucks Coffee Houses in some of America’s cities that are mostly black, or have had a racially charged history?
“My friend looked up various cities, and found that there are no Starbucks Coffee Houses in many of them.
“Places like Highland Park, Michigan, which is at the center of Detroit, is inhabited by a population that is 94 percent African-American. Or in Benton Harbor, Michigan, which is almost 90 percent African-American. There is not a Starbucks in either town.
“There is not a Starbucks in East St. Louis, Illinois, in which 98 percent of the population is African-American. Nor is there one in Gary, Indiana, whose population is 85 percent African-American.
“The recent remembrance of the march on Selma, Alabama had the president walking down the street with many people who fought for civil rights, but once again, Selma doesn’t have a Starbucks. Neither does Ferguson, Missouri.”
If Starbucks really wants to help blacks, then the company needs to set up shop in these cities and institute training programs for blacks teaching job skills and how to run a business.
Howard Schultz might want to take a look at what venture capitalist Catherine Hoke, founder and CEO of Defy Ventures, is doing. Defy Ventures “teaches ex-prisoners how to start a business—then incubates and finances those businesses.” She explains how Defy Ventures helps participants in the program become successful:
“Fifty percent of our effort is in soft skills, transformational training and personal development. We’re not just making entrepreneurs but also great, committed parents, employees and community leaders. We have 10 hours of training taught by an Emily Post Institute-certified instructor, everything from how to shake a hand to how to tie a tie to a two-hour formal dining course and how to properly write a thank-you note after a job interview.”1
Starbucks has billions of dollars in profits. Surely the company could do something like this. If Defy Ventures can do great things with ex-convicts, surely Starbucks can do the same with non-criminals.
Talk is cheap.
Duck Dynasty Patriarch Blasts MSM Political Correctness
Ole Phil nails it. In this post he assails the MSM refusal to mention God or Jesus Christ in any manner whatsoever in an attempt to maintain political correctness.
His assessment of the results of this stance are unvarnished and on the money!!!

‘We’re Swimming in a Cesspool of Politically Correct Crap’
(CNSNews.com) – Duck Dynastypatriarch Phil Robertson said the news media will not even mention the name “Jesus Christ” in a straightforward or even reverential way because they are so politically correct it precludes them from referencing God, and as a result America is “swimming in a cesspool of politically correct crap.”
Robertson made his remarks during a sermon about political correctness and Christian morality at the White’s Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, La., as part of Duck Commander Mission Sunday on Sept. 14.
“When’s the last time you heard someone in the news media say with a straight voice and any kind of adoration, ‘Jesus Christ, Jesus,’” said Robertson. “They won’t even mention His name. We are swimming in a cesspool of politically correct crap.”Phil Robertson is an elder at the church, along with his oldest son Alan Robertson. The Real Impact of Political Correctness
Political Correctness and How It's Killing Our Country
People are defined by their deeds, their actions. Not their words. But the way we communicate can be both reflective of our behavior and an influence on it going forward.
What we call political correctness, for example, reflects societal behavior, how our culture has changed. It also influences societal behavior. In that sense, it reinforces the trajectory of that cultural change.
That makes it a powerful way to understand where we are and where we’re going as a nation, as an economy, and as people. It also shows the effect our words have on how we lead, how we work, and how we live.
How the trend toward political correctness came into being is anyone’s guess. At this point, it doesn’t really matter. It’s everywhere. It’s pervasive. The only way to deal with it is to understand what it is:
It’s collectivism, which destroys individualism. Competition is bad. Everyone’s a winner. Everyone has to be included and treated the same. Singling out individuals as special or unique excludes others, so that’s out. Lost is individual responsibility and accountability, the drive to compete and win, the motivation to be recognized for achievement and superior performance.
It levels the playing field, brings everyone down to the lowest common denominator. Star performers have to take it down a notch so everyone can be included. Like when you bring slower students into a gifted class, everything has to be dumbed down. It diminishes team performance and organizational effectiveness.
Everything has to be filtered to ensure no one is offended or gets into trouble. That slows down information processing, waters down communication, strips out critical data, and dilutes meaning. As a result, it undermines genuine understanding and effective decision-making.
Now, here’s the confusing part. Finger pointing and blaming others is tolerated, even encouraged. Leaders blame their predecessors; parents blame teachers; society blames victims. It’s everybody’s fault but whoever is really responsible. That’s because nobody is accountable. There are no enemies or bad guys. That wouldn’t be inclusive. Including them will fix them.
In short, it’s Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged come to life. It’s a nightmare. And its implications are far reaching.
The Boston Marathon bombing wasn’t the fault of some sick, twisted, cowardly, barbarian terrorists, “It was tax day,” according to former Obama advisor David Axelrod
Nobody can blame President Obama for our out of control debt and sluggish economy. Of course not. It’s former President Bush’s fault.
Former secretary of State Hillary Clinton isn’t responsible for the Benghazi attacks and four murdered Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens; it’s a congressional funding problem.
Business leaders and managers are less willing to give employees genuine feedback because they’re afraid of being sued or accused of harassment, discrimination, or being a bully. You can’t even compliment how someone looks or show any genuine emotions anymore. That might create a hostile work environment.
When you remove personal responsibility by telling people they’re doing great when they’re not and giving them stuff for doing nothing, in time, they feel like they deserve it. That’s where our growing entitlement culture is coming from.
And when we fail to provide people with incentives to work hard and live in a fiscally responsible way as a means to long-term happiness and security, guess what they do? They sit on their butts all day and Tweet, like, update, play games, watch reality TV, and get fatter and fatter.
And how about our growing youth violence problem? If you don’t teach children personal responsibility – adult responsibility – they never grow up. And what do children do when you don’t give them attention? They throw tantrums. And any good shrink will tell you, if children can’t get positive recognition, they’ll take negative attention instead. Anything that’s self-affirming, that feeds their egos.
While it’s clear that political correctness is reflective of our societal norms, it also influences where our culture is heading. If I’m not mistaken, it’s turning us into a nation of people who look like adults but act like entitled children, who act out when they don’t get what they want or feel they deserve.
How do we stop that from happening? Don’t be politically correct. Here’s how:
Behave like an adult.
Hold yourself and others accountable.
Don’t try to be something you’re not.
Say what you mean and mean what you say.
Have a sense of humor, humility, and perspective.
Work hard, play to win, and respect the competition.
Don’t be afraid to do the right thing, no matter what.
Be proud of yourself, your loved ones, and all your accomplishments.

To quote some great unknown sage, "Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
