Is America under Barack Obama becoming World’s Biggest Bully ?

By Scott Rohter, October 2014

Is America becoming the world’s biggest bully? Can the United States just bomb other counties into becoming democratic nations?  We are certainly trying to do that in the Middle East. In Irag and Afghanistan, in Libya, and now in Syria the United States Air Force is delivering a powerful blow from the bomb bay doors of our most advanced fighter jets. My question is, “Are we delivering a blow for democracy or to democracy?
Teddy Roosevelt 1Theodore Roosevelt was America’s 26th President. He was our Commander in Chief between 1901 and 1909 just prior to World War I and he is considered by many historians to be one of our greatest Presidents. His face is immortalized in stone on Mt. Rushmore alongside the facades of some of  George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. So then it should come as no surprise to anyone that Teddy Roosevelt’s foreign policy of “walk softly and carry a big stick” was our nation’s conventional diplomatic position for many years. In fact that is how America had always interacted with the rest of the world all throughout the 20th century. This has meant that the United States has always maintained a strong military which has served as a deterrent against aggression by other nations. Our armed forces has always helped us maintain peace in the world and  facilitate the solution of international problems in a manner that is consistent with American values and in our own best interests.
In 2008 Barack Obama became America’s first Black President. This was an historic opportunity for him to show what he could do on the world stage…  Instead of being cautious and respectful, Barack Obama has thrown all of the conventional wisdom of the past one hundred years out the window. He has replaced Teddy Roosevelt’s careful respect for international norms of law and order, national sovereignty and territorial integrity with a reckless abandon and disrespect for the rights of other nations, and a disregard for their borders and their sovereignty which is characteristic of a diplomatic drunkard. His numerous intrusions into other country’s purely domestic matters cannot be described as walking softly at all. It is more like he is running roughshod over other countries. Instead of just carrying a big stick around to deter aggression by foreign nations, Barack Obama is actually using it to attack other countries and beat them over the head. He is trying to bomb other countries into democracy.
In Libya Barack Obama used the United States Air Force to attack and remove the dictator Muammar Khadafy from power. In Egypt President Obama forced Hosni Mubarak to step down and relinquish control of the government of Egypt to the Muslim Brotherhood. In Ukraine our State Department supported the street demonstrations that led to the overthrow of President Victor Yanukovich, the referendum in Crimea and its annexation by Russia, and the revolt in Donetsk and Slovansk. In Iraq Barack Obama demanded that Prime Minister Nuri al Malaki resign even though he was elected by a large majority of Iraqis. Now President Obama wants to overthrow the government of Bashar al Assad in Syria. Just who in the hell does Barack Obama think he is? Instead of allowing him to remove any more leaders of other countries maybe we should just consider getting rid of him.
