It is my opinion that we need term limits for all who serve in
Congress. After all, we have a two term limit for the Presidency. Why not term
limits for our Representatives and Senators? Does any rational person think for
one moment that our Government is not dysfunctional? The longer these idiots
stay in Congress the more insulated they become from those they serve. The
concern is always about winning the next election.
They work for us and they have to be constantly reminded of that. The perks that they have are mind blowing. How can we survive with these big time spenders that we have in office now? We are trillions in debt. Our Founding Fathers envisioned citizen/public servants, people who were of a high moral order and would serve for the public good. Our Fathers would be thoroughly outraged by the kind of people who are in Congress today.
It is so strange today to believe that people can leave their normal everyday pursuits, serve their country and return to their former way of life. Today's politician is so beholden to the moneyed interests. Money has poisoned the system greatly. Look at the exorbitant amount that was spent in the 2012 election cycle only to return to the status quo. These politicians want a lifetime tenure.
We have Representatives that don't even read the laws they pass and in the instance of Obamacare, they are exempted from the law. It's outrageous! Congressional limitation is an issue of utmost importance and must be given the most serious consideration.
Most polls, if not all, reflect this desire. So many who now serve lack integrity and character. Many fall far short. Leadership is so lacking. In its place we have endless campaigning. Our President is a prime example of that. We, the citizens of this great country, must show the way. A Constitutional Amendment for term limitations is needed most definitely.
It has my support and should have yours!
