HERE'S YOUR SIGN....
We hear a lot about democracy in statements made by politicians relating to
the unrest in the Middle East. I understand that the US interest is in the
people choosing their own leader, but is all the aid we send to so many
oppressed countries only conditional on "democracy?"
Democracy alone is a fleeting thing. We see that in the elections of
President Morsi, now removed by a military coup of which Senator John McCain
says we should cut off aid to Egypt because the United States cannot condone
the military taking charge of Egypt.
While we place little conditions on the large sums of aid we supply to any
nation, the Obama administration sits on the fence most generally instead of
negotiating and/or making a strong statement to the oppression of which we have
recently seen in Egypt. That oppression and a coming of power obvious tyrant is
what the people demanded be gone...abolished...impeached, if you will. That is
what caused the military to step in. That is the coup.
Why would we want to suspend our aid to Egypt now? The military is doing
what I perceive we would want done...trying to maintain peace while the
suppressive "Sharia Law" based constitution of Morsi is shredded
replaced with a more adaptive constitution hopefully lending to what our own
Founder's construted for the United States of America...a constitution with
rights,
laws, and boundaries which has means to evolve with the people.
I strongly suggest that all aid we send to other nations should be
conditional. Nations don't give
gifts to other nations for any other
reason. Even when we think of military aid of weapons and/or food...We should
be focused on the side of LIBERTY. That is the core of our own values. That is
who we are and the once bright beacon that shone upon the world illuminating
from our very own nation. I say to all...do not overlook LIBERTY while calling
for democracy.
Egyptian's have another message to Obama and the American people. This
youtube which came to my attention, the speaker will translate in English at
the 40 second mark. Watch and listen here:
