What makes a Nation Great?

There has been a war going on against Christianity for quite some time now. But our founding fathers understood a few things that this generation has seemed to forgotten, and I believe most people in the United States have not even been taught about the God of the Bible.  They have no clue who He is, or what he is like. Take for example the teachings concerning God in Psalms 32.

Psalms 32:8-11," I will instruct you in teach you in the way you should go: I will guide you with my eye. Do not be like the horse are like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.  Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but you trust in the Lord mercy shall surround him. Be glad in the Lord rejoice you righteous and shout for joy all you upright in heart!"

Notice what it is saying, this is a Psalm of David, and he was the King of Israel. He was an inspired writer of the Bible. (When I say inspired, by that I mean; " God breathed"). 2Pe 1:19-21 ¶” And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

In 2Timothy 3:16," All Scripture is given by inspiration, (God breathed) of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete thoroughly equipped for every good work."

So when we talk about David being inspired of God, we are talking about God speaking through them as they penned the words they wrote. David was one of those holy man that the apostle Peter was talking about, he was moved by the Holy Spirit. When a man is moved by the Holy Spirit, it is as if God breathed those words, and that is exactly what happened.

Today there are some who claim that they have modern revelation from God, but there is no modern revelation. And apart from the Bible given to man today God is silent. I've heard a lot of men say to me," God told me such and such".  Well if God truly talked to them, they could add it to the bible. But God has not talked to them and their belief that he did, is not a substitute for the Bible says.

In other words when someone claims that God is talking to them, they are lying.  Joseph Smith lied, Brigham Young lied, Mohammed lied, and all of these men who lied and are dead, burning in Hades right now.

Getting back then to Psalms 32, God is saying through the pen of David that he will teach any man the way he should go, he will guide that person with his eyes.  What does that mean?  Take for example of when I was a child, there were seven of us children, and we would go to church and worship God with Mom and Dad. Mom sat at one end of the pew, and Dad sat at the other end of the pew. Therefore, If one of us started getting out of line, all it would take was mother or dad looking at us, and the look in their eye said, (buddy you had better straighten up or else)  you see they guided us with their eyes. Now if you were not looking at them, then when you got home there were consequences to our actions, So you had better be looking at mom and dad.   In the same way we must look to God through his holy Bible in order for us to be guided by his eye.

This passage says “many sorrows will be upon the wicked.”  We need to realize that this nation has become wicked and sorrows do lay ahead of us. You may ask a good question and say how? Well, With 55 million children being killed through abortion, and with Homo sexuality raging in our society and it is  raging to the point, that if you were to go to a gay pride parade, you would witness all sorts of evil that is committed there. And our leaders look the other way.  For If  anyone committed the same acts that are done in those parades, the next day at the same spot and time, they would not only get arrested, but they would be put on the Internet and have to register the rest of their lives as sexual offenders.

Again in the book of Ps 32:9-10, Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him

We have great men and women serving our nation today, but they cannot keep winning wars if we continue to make God angry at us for what we approve.

.Ps 34:16-19, The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Did you notice who God guides with his eyes?  It is not the man nor the nation, that is wicked.  But It is however, those individuals, or that nation, that fears the Lord. The fear the Lord is an interesting concept. Many say I do not fear the Lord he is my buddy, my best friend. What they miss is, He is God! We in the United States, and in our life time have never been under an oligarchy, a King, or a Premier. That is good, but there is a downside to that and it is, we do not understand in our day and time, what having a king is all about, and that if you were best friends with the King, that does not mean that you would not fear him, Or would not merit a need to be feared.

In the same way we have a King and his name is Jesus and he is God and he needs to be feared. And there are benefits to fearing God our King.

Psalms 34:7, "the angel of the Lord in camps all around those who fear him, and delivers them."  So the first benefit that we can see in fearing God is he delivers those who fear Him.  Again in Psalms 34:9" oh fear the Lord you his saints there is no want to those who fear his Him.  And Ps 34:11-18 ¶ Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.”

In verses 16 through 19 of Psalms 34 we see God teaching us that it is not in our military strength that we are delivered from our enemies, it is in the fear of the Lord.

In verses 11 through 18 of the same Psalm, we see what it takes to love life and see good days. Now, in a nation or in the family, the first thing we need to do is to reframe our tongue from evil, our lips from speaking deceit or lives.  Now how many times have you heard a person who claims to be a Christian use God’s name in vain or swear, having a potty mouth.  We cannot be happy, and while not controlling our tongue.  If every person in our nation would seek peace and pursue it.  What a wonderful paradise we would live in, no prisons, or jails, No need for police.

What we need to realize is these would make for a peaceful people and a peaceful people is a righteous people, and the eyes of the Lord are on a righteous people and his ears are open to their prayers, So if a nation came up against that nation, God would defend them.

Now,  God is against those who do evil and he'll even cut off the very remembrance of them and that nation.  Now listen to this,  God hears the cry of a righteous people, and he delivers them out of all of the trouble. Now here in that last verse, “18” he says something interesting, the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.  The prophet Isaiah 57:15"for thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy: I dwell in the high and lofty place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones"

if our president Obama has done anything great in his presidency, let it be that he has created a revival through his persistence of hating Christianity and loving the muslims  in the United States of America, and that our people no matter their color, no matter the language, they we all will turn from our evil deeds, and fear the Lord, and humble ourselves before him! We need to stop believing the devils lie, that God hears all prayers from everyone no matter if they lived their lives honoring him or not.   For as Isaiah 59:2 establishes that our sins separate us from God, so that he will not hear us. If there's anything that I hope this president does, it is that through his evil deeds the He wakes up America to the fact that we are not great without God. We can have the greatest Navy, the Meanest Marines, the toughest army and the greatest Air Force in the world, but without God, we are nothing.

So the question comes to you making personal application, Do you have a broken and contrite heart, and do you have godly sorrow for the sins in your life?  And the important question is this, are you willing to let God guide you with his eyes, by looking to him to his word?  We do not need more laws on gun control, what we need is to change the heart of America back to God.  Well this is Tim Gean saying have a great day.
