Facebook Protects Obama by Pulling Message from SEALs
Special Operations Speaks is an organization comprised mostly of military veterans who want to help other former and active military personnel in many areas. Their mission statement reads:
“We, as veterans, legatees, and supporters of the Special Operations communities of all the Armed Forces, have noted with dismay and deep alarm the recent stream of highly damaging leaks of information about various aspects of America’s shadow war in the overall War on Terror. Our principles are the same as when we were in active service —Duty, Honor, Country.”
“Our goals are:
To emphasize the pressing need for the nation and its representatives to understand the value of our Constitution and actively support a return to its application in all phases of government;
To illuminate the failed operational security environment of the Administration and to provide the public with accurate information about these repeated releases of highly classified information;
To restore accountability in government and with it the trust in our government that We The People deserve and demand.”
Over the weekend, Political Media Inc. President Larry Ward posted the meme below on Facebook, on behalf of SOS. He was informed by Facebook in a short time that they were pulling the meme from the Facebook posting. Ward reposted the meme and again it was pulled and he was given a 24 hour suspension from Facebook. He was told that the meme violated Facebook’s Rights and Responsibilities terms.
I would like to know what terms it violates as I have seen tons of similar memes on many different Facebook pages and many of them condemn Obama for the failure he is. I’ve even used a few of them for previous posts.
In case you were not aware, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is an ardent Obama supporter and worked to help get Obama elected in 2008. Evidently, he is using his powers to sensor people’s right of free speech when it comes to postings that denigrate his idol.
In response to Facebook’s censorship, a number of SOS members have issued statements:
Larry Bailey, CAPT (SEAL), USN (Ret):
“It looks like Obama’s liberal followers in Facebook HQ are terrified of how damaging the Benghazi scandal is for the President. We understand that Facebook can run their site however they’d like, but when they’re trying to quietly squelch opposition to what is a clear leadership failure that resulted in the tragic deaths of some of our nation’s heroes, they deserve to be called out on it.”
“We are paying advertisers on Facebook. It is outrageous that Mark Zuckerburg, founder of Facebook, who worked to elect Obama in 2008, would sell out patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice – all to serve the political ambitions of the man who let them die.”
Dick Brauer, Jr., Col. USAF (Ret):
“Americans across the country deserve the truth about what happened in Libya, and they certainly deserve to know when people who hold the keys to a lot of their online communications are trying to keep that from them.”
“This whole affair has become the poster child for liberal arrogance and incompetence – from the President’s complete leadership failure in Libya to the liberal media’s desperate efforts to keep this out of the hands of the American people across the spectrum from broadcast news to social media. I hope they’ll stop this shameful game and stop sacrificing the truth – and Americans abroad – in the name of politics.”
Fortunately, the meme went viral before it was pulled and it is estimated that over 30,000 people saw it before it was pulled. I have posted it on my FB page and encourage everyone else to do likewise. Think of the message it would send to Facebook and their liberal management if 1,000,000 people posted this meme on their FB pages. Please do your part to make it happen.
