From page 19 “To Harrass our People” by Senator George V. Hansen reads: “The secret police of the IRS is very real and growing in power and ruthlessness. Three recent and widely reported stories show how the IRS brutally, sometimes fatally strikes out at US citizens. Even though they occurred in widely separated areas---Alaska, Minnesota, and Maryland--- these cases have much in common.
The taxpayers in all the cases had legitimate questions regard the IRS assessments against them and all of the tax payers tried to obtain reasonable explanations from the IRS for the taxes levied upon them. In each instance the IRS refused to respond. Litigations by the tax payers against the IRS was ongoing. In other words the IRS attack on these citizens come, in every example, without due process of law. This is a sure sign of the emergence of a police state.
All of the tax payers discussed were stunned to find themselves under siege! Only one case had advanced warning that his property was to be seized. Only in one of these three examples was the IRS able to procure a search warrant prior to its act of terror! Even that search warrant was questioned because the case was still in litigation in federal court.
