Schools have become psychological playgrounds which are defended as “Academic Freedom”----- These processes are not academic, nor do they allow freedom! They are a deliberate attempt to manipulate and indoctrinate our children into a philosophical belief that morals and ethics are relative! Here is a critique of “Values Clarifications” made by Professor Alan L. Lockwood: “Any values curriculum which rules out debate on proprietary or defensibility of moral values decisions is susceptible to charges of promoting ethical relativism.
Moral judgment requires sound justification and not simple confessions of personal taste. If not, how could we fairly and rationally oppose the views of Hitler, Manson, Watergaters and the like?”---- I’d also like to quote William J. Bennett and Edwin J. Delattre from an article entitled, “Moral Education in the Schools”=== “Both Simon and Kohlberg also failed to avoid indoctrination.
Both of these programs offer indoctrination in the Values they take it to be important--- the celebration of wants and desires; the exhortation to self gratification and a particular ideology of rights and social justice, although they both claim to disavow traditional moral education because it indoctrinates. So Simon and Kohlberg clearly do not oppose indoctrination but they do oppose the indoctrination of traditional values. It’s a sad thing education has come to this point today. Parents pay taxes to support this system, whether federal, state, or local level. We need some assurance that our children are being provided proven quality education instead of using our children as guinea pigs to promote psychological theories and someone’s philosophical beliefs!
