Senate minority's chief ties Trump'svote-fraudcommission to 'white supremacist movement
In a head-spinningly illogical non-sequitur, top Democratic U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer has managed to reveal what his party is most worried about from the Trump administration.
That would be the Presidential Advisory Commission on Voter Integrity, which President Trump established by executive order in May.
But Schumer insisted Thursday that Trump dismantle his commission dedicated to investigating voter fraud. What reason did he cite?
Well, you see, it all has to do with white supremacists, neo-Nazis and Charlottesville.
In a post on the Medium website, headlined “After Charlottesville, It’s Time to End the Assault on Voting Rights,” Schumer wrote: “Under the guise of voter fraud, which experts agree is practically non-existent, conservative forces in the administration, cheered on by white-supremacy-stoking publications like Breitbart News, are reviving the old playbook of disenfranchising minority voters.
“Unfortunately, hardly anything would make the torch-bearing men who just marched on Charlottesville any happier than for this effort to succeed.”
Continuing in his effort to connect a bipartisan probe of voter fraud with Nazis, Schumer wrote: “If the president wants to truly show that he rejects the discrimination agenda of the white supremacist movement, he will rescind the Executive Order that created this commission. And if the president does not act, the Congress should prohibit its operation through one of the must-pass legislative vehicles in September. Many of us found the Election Integrity Commission distasteful when it was first created. The president’s recent failure to unequivocally condemn bigotry makes its rescission imperative.”Schumer’s allegation that the voter integrity commission – which to date has convened just one meeting – is somehow tied in with the “white supremacist movement” is just the latest manifestation of the Democratic Party’s extreme discomfort with any official investigation into voter fraud in America.Clinton’s 2.9-million advantage in the nationwide popular vote might have evaporated had illegal-alien votes not been counted. In California alone, with the nation’s largest illegal-alien population, Clinton had 4.3 million more votes than Trump.
But a recent study concluded that as many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election won by Barack Obama, giving credence to Trump’s claim that illegal votes cost him the nationwide popular vote last November.
