Optimistic President Trump On Successes, Agenda and Democrat Resistance
Fox News anchor Pete Hegseth sat down with President Trump for an interview that included the effort to fix our healthcare disaster and his bill that he was then about to sign to correct some major problems at the VA.
Hegseth starts off with a question about who has been President Trump’s biggest opponent to his successful implementation of his agenda, “Has it been Democrats resisting, has it been fake news media, has it been deep state leaks? When you think about it, what holds it up?”
President Trump points to the system as a whole as having “some very bad things going on.” He says, “One of the things that should be solved but it probably won’t be” is the lack of cooperation between parties, pointing out that the upcoming health care bill could be the greatest bill ever written in the history of mankind and it still wouldn’t get a single Democrat vote. “Their theme is resist. I’ve never heard of anything like this, resist.”
“How frustrating is it to have former ‘president’ Obama out there leading the resistance,” Hegseth asks. Trump replies, “I don’t think he’s leading it, he actually just put out a small statement, I don’t see that leading it, but other people are leading. Don’t forget, I saw Schumer criticizing the bill a couple of weeks ago and he had no idea what was in the bill.” He says, “In fact, the Republican Senators didn’t know because it wasn’t released.”
President Trump has a few observations he shares on Elizabeth Warren, that she doesn’t have the level of support many allege and that she’s just a mean, angry and hostile person who ended up hurting Clinton in the long run.
He talks about the great relationships he has with many in Congress, that they are, in his view, doing enough to have his back. Trump says he’s made a lot of “great friendships with the people in the House, a lot of them, the same thing in the Senate.” Talking about the Republican resistance to the health care bill in the Senate he says, “They are four very good people, they’re friends of mine, and I don’t think they’re that far off.
Trump asks, “If he had the information why didn’t he do something about it, he should have done something about it. But you don’t read that, it’s quite sad.” He points out, “There is a thing going on in the country and it’s somewhat of a sickness in that sense. But you know what? I am so proud of what we’ve done in such a short period of time.”
