Organization of United Nations:

Collier's Encyclopedia Book 19 page 62 c1952: 

The name “United Nations” was first originated by President Franklin Roosevelt to describe the allies fighting in World War 2. It was first used January 1,1942 in the Declaration of the nations when representatives of 26 governments endorsed the principles of the “Atlantic Charter” and pledged the countries to cooperate in winning the war and not to make a separate peace. 

The declaration was later signed by 21 other countries based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all peace loving States and open to all such States for the maintenance of international peace and security. 

At Teheran in December in 1943, Roosevelt United States, Prime Minister Churchill United Kingdom and Marshall Stalin of USSR issued another Declaration pledging they would seek the cooperation of all nations dedicated to the elimination of tyranny, slavery, oppression and intolerance.
