Flashback: At least 30 Democrats met with Russian diplomats – where’s the media?

Democrats have been alleging Russia collusion by Donald Trump’s team for more than a year to no avail. But if they had really wanted to find collusion, they need only look in the mirror.

While no evidence has been revealed suggesting that Trump had any connection with Russian officials, it was discovered in 2017 that as many as 30 Senate Democrats met with Russian diplomats in 2015, in an effort to push former President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.

Representatives from Britain and Germany also attended the meeting to present their own concerns with the deal, which gave Iran hefty financial rewards in exchange for a pinky swear that the terrorism-supporting country wouldn’t build nuclear weapons.

Among those who met with the Russians was 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who was apparently swayed to vote in favor of Obama’s deal as a result of the meeting.

“When I questioned the ambassadors of our P5+1 allies, it also became clear that if we reject this deal, going back to the negotiation table is not an option,” Gillibrand said, arguing that the Iran deal needed to be done.

The story also confirmed, “Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Michael Bennet of Colorado, Chris Coons of Delaware, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin” were among the Democrats who met with the Russians.

Hypocrites Exposed
While the Democrats continue to shout collusion — even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation failed to charge any Americans in its recent indictments — Twitter users are starting to call out Democrats from their hypocrisy.

The Federalist‘s Sean Davis tried to get to the bottom of things, tweetingto Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) in 2017:

Hi, @clairecmc. Were you part of this Iran deal meeting with Chinese and Russian diplomats in 2015? Tell the truth.

“It’s time for Senate Democrats to come clean about their secret Iran deal meetings with Russian officials,” Davis added. “(Sen.) McCaskill announced her support for the Iran deal days after Senate Democrats secretly met w/ Russian officials.”

Davis also noted, “If you want to see what actual nefarious foreign influence over the operations of U.S. government looks like, take a look at the Iran deal.”

His sentiment couldn’t be truer. It’s time to take a look at the real instances of collusion — and it’s time to hold the Democrats accountable once and for all.
