It's time that we all grow up.
People in my generation are so spoiled by the modern day technology and they don’t really appreciate it nor do most people appreciate working hard for everything they have. They love to protest and remain negative when things don’t go their way. Just look at the results of the election? Ever since Donald Trump was elected president, all these Millennials and other generations as well, are protesting in every major city in America from coast to coast just because they didn’t get what they want. Since they didn’t get what they want, they believe that this election should be a do over. I have an alternative to this proposed “election do over”: If we gave Hillary Clinton an award for participating in something that she PAID to participate in, WORKED to participate in, something that she WILLINGLY decided to do, how about we give her a nice big trophy? Would that make everyone happy? Probably not.
Whatever happened to, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words may never hurt me?" Yes I am aware that words may hurt, as there are a plentiful amount of harmful words in the English language, but just because someone says something offensive to you doesn't mean that you need to run away and hide in a "safe space." I am sure that there are some who would disagree with me but I think that our generation is a generation that has absolutely no backbone and gets offered at every little thing they hear. It's time to grow up.
The “Entitled Generation” as Millennials are often called seems so appropriate because everyone thinks that they are entitled to everything single star spangled thing, but let me give you a little reality check: America has been crippled by “entitlements” which is the cause of the problem. You are not entitled to anything, not a single thing in this world. You work for it. You give it your best and you aren’t always successful, but just because you failed doesn’t mean that you deserve a trophy.
Winning warrants you a trophy, not losing or simply participating. America was built on working hard for your future, it never was handed to you. So instead of wasting your college tuition and parent’s money protesting saying, “Not my president,” why don’t you go and make that money useful and learn about politics and how the system works; and if you have such a problem with the system that has given you too much, become a politician and fix it.
