The online article also quotes Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas, who said: "This is our last opportunity" for the Senate to repeal key elements of ObamaCare. In a potentially stunning turn of events, it now appears that a new ObamaCare Repeal/Replace bill using BLOCK GRANTS to the states is now ONE VOTE away from passage in the Senate.
Grassfire has been tracking this development closely, and while the BLOCK GRANT strategy is far from perfect, it does accomplish several key objectives that move Americans away from the crippling ObamaCare monstrosity:
--The employee mandate is ELIMINATED.
--The employer mandate is ELIMINATED.
--Federal funds are given to the states on a PER CAPITA basis instead of ObamaCare's grossly skewed distribution scheme that funneled the vast majority of funds to hard-left states.
--States are given ample freedom to create the health-insurance programs that fit the needs of their state. Far-left states may skew toward socialized medicine while conservative states can move toward a market-based system. (But those battles will take place in state legislatures where conservatives are winning hands down!)
--The employer mandate is ELIMINATED.
--Federal funds are given to the states on a PER CAPITA basis instead of ObamaCare's grossly skewed distribution scheme that funneled the vast majority of funds to hard-left states.
--States are given ample freedom to create the health-insurance programs that fit the needs of their state. Again, this is FAR FROM PERFECT, but this BLOCK GRANT strategy moves the health-care debate and legislation away from unconstitutional mandates, federal control and single-payer, and back to the states and the people.

Congress must pass this Block Grant Repeal/Replace strategy by September 30, or there is no hope of an ObamaCare repeal in the foreseeable future.
