Facebook’s Zuckerberg Helped With Russian Investigation, Handed Over “Likely” Ad Data
Without any kind of doubt, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the presidential election has been one of the most controversial cases in U.S. history, given the fact that what is supposed to be a neutral investigation has shown a very concerning bias. In addition to several elements that turn the probe into an unpredictable operation, recent news revealed another unexpected turn: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has provided information to Mueller.
Apparently, the tech giant’s boss has transferred data on ads that were “likely” purchased by Russian entities. According to the social media, an internal Facebook investigation found that Russian operatives spent $100,000 on ads with several “divisive messages” between the year 2015 and 2017.
A blog post published on Wednesday said regarding this issue that the operation involved 3,000 separate ads over this period, and was likely to have been run out of Russia. Also, the social media found almost 500 affiliated fake pages and accounts.
Taking a look at the whole picture, it seems that Mark Zuckerberg is trying to divert attention from his responsibility in the spread of fake news, by helping special counsel Mueller in an investigation that doesn’t have anything to do with Facebook’s operations.
As reported by Reuters on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter informed that Facebook has turned over every single information regarding those ads to special counsel Mueller, which clearly represents an unexpected twist of a situation that many believe is getting out of control. Apparently, the social media giant provided copies of every single ad and even the identity of the buyers.
Basically, liberal Mark Zuckerberg sold political ads to the Russians during the run-up of the 2016 election, as Facebook admitted to congressional investigators on Wednesday. Legal analysts believe this collaboration with Mueller could be a way to clear their image.
While liberals are trying to push the smoking gun narrative on this issue, the truth is that almost no advertisement focus on then-Republican nominee Donald Trump or then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

This way, it seems strange that special counsel Mueller is taking these details into the Russian investigation, considering that his official objective is to determine whether Trump colluded with them in order to boycott Hillary Clinton´s campaign.
According to the Washington Post, a Facebook official told that there’s some evidence that probes how some of the accounts are linked to a troll farm in St. Petersburg, referred to as the Internet Research Agency. However, the Facebook official told they have no way to independently confirm it, since their data policy and federal law limit their ability to share user data and content.

Regarding this whole case, Senate Intel Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner raised concern that the social media’s ad targeting services could have boosted the prevalence of fake news on the platform. As most people remember, this was one of the most damaging elements during the elections both for the Democratic and Republican Party.

Of course, this hypocrite stance doesn’t seem surprising at all, considering how Facebook tries to create an image of free-speech advocates while showing their willingness to be part of the China’s market, by censoring any kind of information that the communist regime doesn’t want to be published.
