These 7 Heavenly Things Would Happen if the Federal Government Got the Hell Out of Health Care
As I’ve recently explained, any federal government involvement in health care is highly unconstitutional — it’s not even close — and any politician or bureaucrat pushing for government interference in health care is in violation of their constitutional oath.
Nevertheless, here we are, with both major political parties pushing government meddling in this all important industry, the Democrat (Communist) Party pushing for a complete government takeover with a Soviet-style “single-payer” system, and the Republican Party (Progressive) wanting a more fascist system in the order of Obamacare 2.0, while deceptively claiming to repeal Obamacare.
But what would happen if all of this was rolled back faster than a sale at Wal-Mart and the federal government got the hell out of health care like they need to?
What would that look like?
I contend that these seven extremely positive results would occur and none of them would be “people dying in the streets,” as both big government parties argue in one way or another:
- The price of all health care across America would fall dramatically. Whenever government subsidizes something, prices soar and quality diminishes. Look at what’s happened to college prices because of government subsidies — they have unnecessarily skyrocketed and quality is in the toilet. Moreover, look at the price of Lasik eye surgery. There are no government subsidies, people pay for it out of pocket, and it caused price competition resulting in lower prices for everyone. End the federal government’s artificially propping up prices and you would see health care become much more affordable for everyone — like it used to be before Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” screwed up everything.
- Charities would soar. Getting government the hell out of the way would open up a huge door for charities and churches to walk through, filling the void left by government handouts for health care. Americans are the most charitable people on the planet. They would be even more so if government got out of the way.
- People would be responsible for their own health care. Realizing that government wasn’t around to entitle us to “free” health care paid for by some hard-working American taxpayer would be a great motivator to get us off the couch, into the gym, and would encourage all Americans to eat healthier.
- DC politicians and bureaucrats would have much less control over your life. These power-hungry individuals know that if they control health care, they control YOU and your family members. If they can make you dependent on the government for health care, they have successfully made you and your family dependent on THEM! What a great setup — for them — to give them more power over your life and keep you voting for the one who promises you the most goodies. I think we can all agree that this is horrible for the country and kills the rugged individualism, a national personality trait that made America great.
- People would get closer to God. Having realized that government is not god, and has done a terrible job trying to imitate God, the real God would get more attention, people would pray more, go to church more and this would be a great thing for communities and a country that has lost its moral bearings.
- Taxes would fall dramatically. The government has no real money. They can only take money from one taxpayer who worked for it and doles it out to another person who didn’t. If the government doesn’t need our money to dole out for health care, you’ll be able to keep more of your own money for your own health care. Or, you can donate to your church and/or charity that will help them pick up the slack.
- You’ll be happier. Think of all the fighting that’s gone on in the country over health care and government’s role since Obamacare passed. Think of how much energy is spent arguing about it — how much news time — how much time fighting over the dinner table, protesting from either side. All of that would go away if the federal government got out of the health care business, where they have no constitutional role anyway.

When you hear someone say that he doesn’t trust the market, and wants to replace it with government edicts, he’s really calling for a switch from a democratic process to a totalitarian one.” ~ Walter Williams
