Psychologist Lewin’s Purpose for the National Team Laboratory was to study the effects of “freedom and domination” with the view of socially engineering a more democratic social order. He had worked for the United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS) the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the early forties.

The OSS was involved with the psychological attack against the moral and spiritual defenses of a nation during modern warfare. Sensitivity Training was later described as having been developed to study how people could be socially and psychologically manipulated to give up their souls---. Changing is defined as “directing the person toward new attitudes” quite often through forcefulness. Refreezing was defined as “the integration of the changed attitudes into the rest of their personality.
