Where did we go wrong?

What seems like the right thing to do may have been the wrong thing to do? I will ruffle some feathers here but you might want to set aside what you believe and use some logic and your pocket copy of the Constitution.

Universal suffrage ? sounds so good so FAIR ! so why was it not part of the original Constitution ?


Because the right to vote was tied to paying taxes ! and Democracy was known to be self destructive by our founding fathers.

The Civil rights act ? sounds reasonable and FAIR but the outcome has brought us to where we are today with The Gays demanding rights not in the constitution !

The men who penned the Constitution knew that the only way to have a "FREE" nation in perpetuity was to create a Constitution that limited the power of government and protected freedom and that document was designed to be very hard to modify. Not hard enough unfortunately !

Those men understood that the best societies function by voluntary interaction and not by the use of force.

Today we seem to have forgotten that idea and allow government at every level to use force to compel citizens to do what a small minority thinks is best. Want some examples ? Zoning laws at the local level all the way up to Federal imposed Income taxes and we even allow a selective service draft at times.

We have programmed our children to believe in Governments right to compel everyone to obey the majority and that a DEMOCRACY is the best form of government?

Like 2 coyotes and a lamb voting on dinner!
