Western States Are Fighting Federal Land Grabs, And Cliven Bundy Is Going Strong

Remember Cliven Bundy, the man who defied the BLM, and with a great deal of citizen support backed them off. He continues to speak out against Federal encroachment.  His battle is actually symbolic of an old one. Western states have long been at loggerheads with DC over Federal land grabs. Many states are fighting back.

Excerpt "Luckily for Bundy, he has support from politicians and legislators in Nevada, as well as in other states across the western U.S., who are also fighting back against federal efforts to claim control over broad swathes of open land and are looking for ways to reclaim federal land for the states.
While Bundy is a bit rough around the edges, and not everyone may like him, he should still be commended for standing up and fighting back against the never-ending encroachment of the federal government into the lives and affairs of regular citizens.
It is men and women like Bundy who will ultimately win back the freedoms and liberties cherished by Americans that our federal government seem so intent on crushing."

Cliven Bundy Just Made a Move to Defy the Feds… Obama Is Fuming

Back in April, militarized federal agents with the Bureau of Land Management descended upon a ranch in southern Nevada, sparking a major confrontation and armed stand-off, all over unpaid grazing fees claimed by the government for the use of disputed lands.
Rancher Cliven Bundy disputed the federal government’s claim though, and has continued to graze his cattle on what is allegedly federal land, even unto this day, according to theWashington Times.
“[W]e’ve really enjoyed some liberty and freedoms out here,” Mr. Bundy told the Las Vegas Review-Journal recently.
“Since the standoff, we haven’t seen one BLM vehicle on any of these country roads around this ranch. We haven’t seen one BLM ranger. We haven’t seen one [National] Park Service ranger. We haven’t really seen any undercover-type people,” he said. “We haven’t seen snipers on top of our hills. We haven’t seen high-tech communication equipment. We haven’t seen any of those things.”
Although the feds claim that Bundy owes them over $1.2 million in unpaid grazing fees, Bundy disputes that total, and claims that the land really belongs to the state, and the people, and not the federal government.
However, though the feds may have backed off from Bundy earlier, he didn’t emerge from the stand-off unscathed.  Bundy was vilified in the media, particularly over some questionable comments regarding race, that may or may not have been taken out of context to smear him.
His family has also faced harassment and been treated like “domestic terrorists” ever since the confontation, especially his son Ammon, who has been stopped by the TSA in airports, and has had firearm purchases temporarily delayed by the FBI, who are also investigating many of Bundy’s supporters who came out to the ranch during the showdown.
But Bundy remains undeterred, and is continuing to graze his cattle off so-called federal land, all the while speaking out against federal attempts to claim control of even more land in Nevada and the west.
“This is a direct assault on the state of Nevada. It is also a deliberate retaliation against the people for standing against the horrific action of several federal agencies at the Bundy ranch,” the Bundy family said.
“What it amounts to is they’re going to treat this whole Southern Nevada area like wilderness. It’s a stricter rule for land use. It’s policing power is what they’re after,” said Mr. Bundy.
Luckily for Bundy, he has support from politicians and legislators in Nevada, as well as in other states across the western U.S., who are also fighting back against federal efforts to claim control over broad swathes of open land and are looking for ways to reclaim federal land for the states.
While Bundy is a bit rough around the edges, and not everyone may like him, he should still be commended for standing up and fighting back against the never-ending encroachment of the federal government into the lives and affairs of regular citizens.
