WHO REMEMBERS WHY WE HAVE CHRISTMAS

In the study, published in the Journal of Neuroscience, researchers found that people are more likely to give when they think it will make them feel better. They donate, for example, when they feel hope about putting smiles on those expectant and suffering faces. And that hope, or similar feel-good sensations, are driven by the brain‘s reward systems.

Do people feel rewarded when they give because they think about the happiness of the recipient — or do they feel good because they see themselves as generous and that self-esteem boost is mood-enhancing?

I think the latter!!!!

And…Christmas is the most guilty time of year. Why, because we are not thinking of why we celebrate this day anymore.
We are concerned with how many gifts we can buy, with money, we don’t have, and those that do, have no clue about the spirit of the season.

We have the fat guy all dressed up, all over the country, making young and old alike happy…
We have a tree loaded with lights and ornaments, making people happy…
We have tons of gifts under the tree, to make people happy…temporarily!

We drop a can or two of food in a box for the poor and needy, then break our arms patting our back.
That should do the giving heart good until next year….

Self gratification, until the new year comes in along with all those credit card bills…
Then the spirit turns to despair, which has defeated the original thinking.

The spirit of Christmas has nothing to do with all of these things….
The spirit of Christmas has to do with your daily walk through this life, as the Christ, whose birth we are celebrating..or, supposed to be…
It has to do with caring for others, and being a selfless person year round.
Caring about others who are still homeless, still hungry, still abused…still trying to struggle day to day for just an existence.
