The Gift

Oh the tree was filled with lights of color and ornaments of crystal sheen that sparkled and twinkled so gracefully on the Christmas figurines.

Beneath the tree everywhere presents wrapped and bowed so magnificent and the music filled the room with words of holiday sentiment
Scent of Christmas oil filled the room while flowers all over were in full bloom, it was the eve of Christmas Day Praying Santa wasn’t far away!
A large Cross of Jesus hung on the wall the manger and ...brass figures and Christ child in a stall,
The kings of 3 kneeling it really was a sight and music in the background with voices singing “Oh Holy Night”
My sis and I went to bed with excitement of Christmas and Santa filling our head, hoping the night would fly to day, and join Christmas dinner in the family way
My eyes closed and dreamed of being a soldier someday because my Dad was Army military he was far away. Mom missed him we would see her cry But she said would return than we could reach for the sky!
With a cry and a scream my sis ran to me and said “I hear something out there out there by the tree!”
We clasped both our hands and walked down the hall, and sneaked and peaked around the living room wall
In Red and White with a beard oh so bright was Santa kneeling at the Cross of Jesus oh my Gosh what a sight!
You could hear him singing “oh Holy Night, “in tune so we knelt down next to him joined him in croon.
His arms went around us we sang all night through and then I asked Santa “I have a Question for you”.
You love the Lord Jesus as my family, they never do say, Santa smiled, looked said I never let the Lord go astray
The Lord is my Shepard and the pastures I've explored God’s granted me worldwide with children I've adored
So the gift of love that Jesus has granted to me I give back to God’s children and put under the tree.
“Children its late I've so much to do but I must give something special to you, God’s granted a gift now go right away and get your mom I dare say”
So we ran with a swoosh woke Mom in glee and told “Santa had something special NOW under the Tree!”
Mom walked the hall with us “what’s wrong with you guys” than there before us tears formed our eyes
Was Dad standing in uniform proud and so tall and Mom screamed my love as they kissed and did fall.
We grabbed one another love was in flight and the cross on the wall shone oh so bright!
With the voice of Christmas this Holy Night We heard Santa Saying “Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!”
