I take pleasure in introducing author Karen Holt to our Community. Her expertise surrounds the founding of our nation and I am excited to see what she will add to our mission of educating, encouraging and empowering "We The People" to be the citizens our Founding Fathers called US to be. Here is her introduction. Welcome to our Community Karen, we are excited to see what you will add to the cause of liberty and freedom for all Americans.
"When I was in school a “few” years ago, I considered the study of American History to be boring – so much so I failed the course twice, once in junior high and again in high school. To me, it was a waste of time because I did not find it interesting. It is simply amazing the difference a few decades can make!
Studying American history offers each of us a front-row seat to the ways in which God brought this great country to life. For example, during the American Revolution, the thirteen colonies faced off against the British, in that day the world’s greatest super power. With respect to the Colonial Navy, some might compare this war to a determined (and possibly crazy) fisherman going after Moby Dick in a rowboat with a jar of tartar sauce stashed away in his tackle box. The odds were definitely stacked in Moby’s (England’s) favor. Divine Providence, however, had other ideas and placed all His chips on the colonists.
I am aware that a countless number of books exist about the Declaration of Independence and her signers with this book merely one of a growing collection. At the same time, each author brings to light a bit of information in his book the others do not. Thus, if you read a dozen books on the same topic and 90% of the information is the same, there is still 10% which is different and adds to the reader’s level of knowledge about the subject. It is my hope through the pages of this book, you will find that new 10% and it will serve to enhance your level of appreciation for America, the sacrifices made to birth her, and the freedoms we all enjoy."
