WE THE PEOPLE !

Is our government disproportionately target our military servicemen and women?

At the very least, we should make sure that our government does not disproportionately target our military servicemen and women. The least that we can do to repay their sacrifice is ensure that the system doesn’t screw them over.
So, when we learn of servicemen who are being cheated by the system, we make an effort to take their story and make it national news. These men and women sacrifice everything to preserve OUR way of life, the least we can do is rise to the occasion to defend them while they are putting themselves in harms way!
Matthew Hindes is in the Navy and is currently serving aboard a submarine somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Obviously, the location of his submarine is constantly changing and kept a secret, but it is safe to say that he is currently thousands of miles away from the mainland with little, if any, prospect of returning in the near future. Until further notice, Matthew Hindes is stuck on a submarine somewhere in the Pacific.
However, that hasn’t stopped a judge from ordering the Navy submariner to appear in court or else lose custody of his six year-old daughter.
Pay attention, because this is important! It shows just how backwards our system is!
There is a Navy submariner serving his country somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. And if he doesn’t find a way to appear in a Michigan courtroom tomorrow, he will lose custody of his six year-old daughter to his abusive x-wife!
Our servicemen and women deserve better than this! They are out, putting themselves in harm’s way, and this is how WE repay them?
It is absolutely ludicrous for a judge to demand that a submariner appear in court, and it is equally ridiculous to take this man’s daughter away because he fails to appear in court!
No one who puts on a military uniform should have to worry about vengeful spouses taking advantage of their deployment!
I don’t care what you have going on in your life. Stop what you are doing and take the time to DEMAND that this military father be allowed to keep his daughter!
Tell Congress that it MUST protect our brave servicemen and women to ensure that their parental rights are not violated while they are overseas defending our freedoms!
Back in 2010, Navy submariner Matthew Hindes was given permanent custody of his young daughter. For anyone who has yet to deal with custody issues in court, it is next to impossible to get a judge to give full and permanent custody to a father. More often than not, the mother is automatically given custody of the children.
In this case, the divorce between Matthew Hindes and his ex-wife was so contentious that the father was actually given custody. This rarely ever happens!
Now, with Matthew Hindes aboard a submarine somewhere in the Pacific, his wife has decided to take him to court over their custody arrangement. And unless this submariner finds a way to make it from the middle of the Pacific to Michigan in the next 24 hours, he is going to lose custody of his six year-old daughter!
Do you want to know why the mother lost custody of the child? She was accused of child abuse and neglect! It takes a lot for a judge to rule in favor of a father in these cases!
There is supposed to be a law in place that protects U.S. servicemen and women in just these types of circumstances. The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act is supposed to ensure that military men and women are allowed to postpone court proceedings for up to 90 days while they are serving in the Armed Forces.
This makes sense. The last thing a soldier should have to worry about on the front lines is whether he or she is about to be taken to court back in the United States!
However, Michigan Judge Margaret Nole has ruled that Navy submariner Matthew Hindes must appear in court TOMORROW or else he gives up custody of his daughter and surrenders her to the same woman who was found to have neglected the child in the past!
This is an absolute no-brainer! No one serving in the military should have to deal with this nonsense! The law is supposed to protect them in these cases.
Additionally, the courts should not be handing over this submariner’s daughter over to a known child abuser!
I understand that there are a lot of things going on today. There are a lot of noteworthy causes out there to donate to and you need to pick and choose what campaigns you become a part of.
I beg of you that if you are going to pick one cause to support this week, choose this one! This Navy submariner deserves to have custody of his child. If we work together and do our part to overload Congress with faxes, we can get them to intervene! I implore you to please send faxes to all of Congress. This is exactly the type of injustice that we must rally to fix, and with your help, we CAN reverse this!
Tell Congress that it MUST protect our brave servicemen and women to ensure that their parental rights are not violated while they are overseas defending our freedoms!
No servicemen or women should have to worry about losing custody of their children while they are deployed, especially not to a spouse who is a known child abuser!
I am not asking for the government to give our military members any special benefits. All that I am asking is that our government doesn’t conspire against these brave men and women while they are out serving our country!
All that I am asking is that our judicial system doesn’t remove children from these soldiers’ homes while they are out defending this great country!
The system is failing our servicemen and women! Whether it is the scandals going on in Department of Veterans Affairs, the unemployment situation in this country, or now the fact that our soldiers are having their families ripped apart during their deployments… THIS HAS TO STOP!
We the People have the power to put an end to this nonsense! If we unite together and DEMAND that Congress respect the rights of these servicemen and women, we can affect change!
This is a call to action! These men and women in uniform have answered the call to go off to defend us. Now, it is our turn to rise to the occasion and defend these brave veterans from a corrupt system that is conspiring against them!
Tell Congress that it MUST protect our brave servicemen and women to ensure that their parental rights are not violated while they are overseas defending our freedoms!
