Dirge #9 - The Unloving

"I'm watching TV so play with that dog," said the man with a wave of his hand;
He wished his wife would just leave with that kid, the mistake that he didn't have planned.
Beware, heartless one, where there's love you have none!
You can't even find a nice word to be kind.
In the end it is you God will shun!
"I never cared for you much anyway," hissed the woman to her dying dad;
She only wanted his money and land; if he died now she wouldn't be sad.
Beware, you unfeeling, you wheeling and dealing!
Your heart is as cold as a handful of gold.
At the Judgment there will be no appealing!
"Take your belongings and then hit the road," yelled the husband to his weeping wife;
He had a mistress, it wasn't his first, they were all ornaments in his life.
Go away, selfish soul, you are digging a hole!
You wouldn't know love if it struck from above.
Hell will not grant you leave or parole!
There's only one hope for this sinful way, it involves a complete, full surrender.
Your heart must be softened by God's loving Grace, to be pummeled 'til it's good and tender.
Keep love at bay and you'll sure go astray;
Get down Now on your knees, beg Christ cures your disease!

1 "But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud,
     blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self control,
     brutal, without love for what is good,
4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures
     rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power.
     Avoid these people!"

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (HCS)
