Sow in Tears (a Sonnet)

I've set my hand upon the plow of love
And made deep furrows in my cheeks with tears;
I feel the Son shine down from up above,
His Spirit moves me through the tempest years.
I long for rest beneath good Heaven's shade,
Held captive now with body, heart and mind,
But while I'm here the course God's Grace has made
Leads me to serve as Jesus so defined.
I sow in tears but reap in shouts of joy [i]
When at the end the harvest has been made;
The fruits of all these labours will enjoy
The work my Savior started and conveyed.
            My Lord, please help me toil the whole day through.
            My tears and blood and sweat are all for You.

[i] "Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy." Psalm 126:5
