"You can't tell me
what to do!" the angry girl said to her mother;
Beware, noxious teen,
you're foolish and willful and wild!
If you lay 'round and
curse, you'll make matters much worse
for it's a sin to get parents
riled!
"I won't go to
school! It's stupid and lame!" said the young man to his worried father;
he'd rather hang out
and get drunk with his friends than listen to dad and be bothered.
Beware, gluttonous boy,
you'll not always have fun!
You'll turn out a fool
if you don't go to school,
and one day have your
own foolish son!
Honor your parents that
your days may be long was the first commandment with a pledge;
they want you to follow
the ways of the Lord, not to end up on someone's knife edge.
Obey the advice of your
mom and your dad
or be subject to some
hell to go through;
choose respect over
some passing fad.
Your folks try to train
you up as a child in the way that is righteous and true.
You shouldn't repay them
with insolence; they're doing the best they can do.
Listen to your parent
so your life won't be errant.
Hearken to your
parent's word, don't grow up evil and absurd.

1 "But know
this: Difficult times will come in the last days.
2 For people will
be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving,
irreconcilable, slanderers, without self control,
brutal, without love for what is good,
4
traitors,
reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures
rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to the
form of godliness but denying its power.
Avoid these people!"
