The
following is a response to a column by Dan Thomasson in the Bucks County, PA Intelligencer on Hillary Clinton’s time as
Secretary of State.
In his column published in the
Intelligencer, 01/26/2014 Dan Thomasson stated, Secretary of
State, Hillary Clinton had demonstrated she was less vulnerable to media
scrutiny than her 2016 rivals due to her demonstrated and highly praised work
at State. He stated her marks in the four years leading up to Benghazi
have been as high as anyone in that difficult post in recent
memory. He also said she has established her independence
from former President Bill Clinton and that she offers the best chance in the
near future to become the first woman President. Is he kidding?
All of the above assertions
would be almost laughable, if they were not so sad. Can any citizen of
the United States, point to even one accomplishment of Secretary Clinton's in
her entire term as Secretary?
She was one of the chief proponents in cozying up to President Assad of Syria, stating that he was a reformer and someone the United States could work with. She helped facilitate our failed attempt to leave behind a safety net in Iraq and left Iraq as a training and staging area for Al-Quida.
During her stewardship the Obama Administration curried warmer relations with Iran, to the detriment of our most important ally in the Middle East, Israel.
She patted herself on the back for resetting relations with Russia while she helped dismantle our sworn promise to provide a defensive missile shield to our allies, Poland and the Czech Republic. If anyone thinks she is operating independently of former President Clinton, I own a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you, real cheap.
As far as being the best candidate
to become the first woman President of the United States, I don't believe our
electorate will want a woman who cheapens the lives of four brave Americans,
who were murdered in Benghazi, when she implied that it made no difference how
they were murdered or when or by who. She says she takes full
responsibility for failing to provide the proper security, but her words are
proven worthless. To muddy the picture of what really happened in
Benghazi even further, Secretary Clinton has lied from the very beginning of
this tragedy.
Our country made a terrible mistake,
by voting for the first black President, solely because he was black,
regardless of his qualifications for office. Please let us not make the
same mistake when we elect our first woman President. Let us make sure
the first woman President is qualified and above all else, honest and truthful.
