Please try to contain your shock and amazement
In a Saturday article titled “Caught in a Revolving Door of Unemployment.” The New York Times provided a graphic illustration of the reality of unemployment during the Obama years.
The Times noted that while unemployment rate has fallen to 7.3 percent, down from 10 percent four years ago and that private businesses have added about 7.6 million positions over the same period, recent data shows that there are about as many people unemployed for short periods as in 2007 — before the worst of the housing crisis hit.
Worse? Data also shows that long-term joblessness is up 213 percent since 2007, and has remained near 40% of unemployment since October 2009. The Urban Institute, a moderately left-wing non-profit, stated that “the extent of the increase and its persistently high level since the start of the recovery are both troubling and unprecedented.”
Well, the left did promise that Barack Obama’s presidency would be “historic.”
