Group Votes to Reject Obama's Syrian Strike Strategy;
Calls on Area US Senators to Rebuff Plan

Philadelphia (September 10, 2013) --The Independence Hall Tea Party
Association's tri-state Board of Directors has voted unanimously to reject President Obama's rationale for striking Syria.

"Why should our nation commit itself to attacking one side in a civil war in which both sides are our enemy?" asked Association Co-founder, Don Adams.

"While the Syrian Government may have used chemical weapons on more than a thousand of its own citizens, the Al-Qaida backed rebels have also killed large numbers of civilians--targeting Christians and others for elimination.

"We cannot possibly attack every country whose leaders kill, maim, and/or starve its people.  Our national security must be at stake before such an intervention can take place--and President Obama has failed to convince us, in tonight's televised speech, that a Syrian strike is in America's best interest.

"We are also concerned that a Syrian strike could lead to a wider Middle East war and are in complete agreement with the following statement recently issued by Congressman Pat Meehan (R-PA):

The Administration lacks measurable, defined goals and strategy. The use of chemical weapons is abhorrent, yet it is far from clear how the proposed military action will prevent their future use. It is not clear how intervening in Syria's civil war, absent an imminent threat to the United States, best serves our national interests. Rather, its plans have the potential to open a Pandora's box of regional conflict that imperils America's critical allies, particularly Israel. Under these circumstances, I cannot support the President's request for Congressional authorization of an attack on Syria.

"We are urging our area Senators--Bob Casey (D-PA), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Jeff
Chiesa (R-NJ), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Tom Carper (D-DE), and Chris Coons (D-DE) to vote no on any military operations in Syria," said Mr. Adams.
