United We Stand!

It's finally over...or is it? George Zimmerman was declared not guilty in a case that should never have been brought to trial. Still, a young man is dead. Another young man's life is forever ruined.

So where do we go from here? Do we allow the politicians, activists and talking heads on television to continue to divide us as a nation? Do we continue to hyphenate America?

Or do we come together and unite, refusing to allow elitists to divide us? We are Americans. Period. We may have varying shades of skin, varying cultures, different religions and different experiences. What unites us is that we are Americans.

Do we have challenges in America? Yes. But look at what these elitists have done to shape division in this country.

During the 2008 election season, obama made promises he never kept. His administration is the least transparent I've ever seen. I had great hope and pride in America when obama was inaugurated, even though as a fiscal conservative, I did not vote for him. I really was proud that we were, for the most part, a post-racial country.

My hope and pride was terribly misplaced. America's first "black" president is the most divisive, not only racially but economically. He has pushed class warfare onto a country which, though not perfect, has rejected classes. We are all equal as individuals. We have equal opportunities to pursue life, liberty and happiness. Unfortunately, the first "black" president has only succeeded in driving up unemployment in the black community, especially among young black Americans.

Activists...well...they would be out of very lucrative job if they did not push their agenda upon us all.

Talking heads (who used to be known as journalists) have fomented this division. With few exceptions, the main stream media is filled with activists and "white" folks filled with guilt over sins of their ancestors.  They only succeed in putting people in boxes based upon race, religion, sex and political ideals. They made villains out of conservatives, projecting their own racism and classism onto anyone who believes in treating all folks equally as free persons with responsibility for their lives and choices.

Think about what is more egalitarian: treating a certain "class" or group of people as if they cannot take care of themselves and be responsible for their own actions, needing the elitist to direct their lives or treating every person as an individual capable of great and ordinary things, being responsible for their choices in life?

The first is the elitist way; the second is the American way.

Do we have work to do? Absolutely. Can we do it together? Undoubtedly. Let's unite, not has hyphenated Americans but as AMERICANS!
