The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.

By Nancy Oliver

BALANCE...that is what any new laws in our nation should find; Balance in how much it cost, in how much good it will do for how many of the people, what effects it will have on certain sectors of the nation, how constitutional is that law and a whole host of other consideration. I can see some good things in the health care law we normally call obamacare aka the Affordable Health Care Act. But what about balance?

1. You must get insurance.
Starting in 2014, the Affordable Care Act requires nearly all U.S. citizens and legal residents to have health insurance.

Now some good points:
2. You can get insurance.
You will be able to enroll in some form of insurance coverage, regardless of your age, gender, or health status that may have made it hard to get insurance before.
3. You can get help paying for it.
An online calculator tool will be available starting October 1 to help you determine whether your income qualifies you for a government subsidy to buy insurance.
4. You won't be turned down because of a pre-existing condition.
Currently, it can be difficult to buy insurance if you are already ill. But in 2014, you're eligible for insurance even if you have a pre-existing health condition.
5. You can cover children on your plan up to age 26.
Before the new law, most insurance plans covered only adult children who were full-time students, lived with their parents, were disabled, or considered a dependent for tax purposes. In 2014, all young adults can stay on their parents' plan until age 26. (What it will cost is any ones guess.)

But the effects of obamacare projects to cost so much our nation's debt will balloon to more extreme alarming measures driving us to a bankrupt nation. Detroit anyone? Furthermore we are already seeing hours cut and employers putting the freeze on hiring. Before it is in full swing long at all we could see businesses dry up all across our country which means...no jobs period. And even more so many Doctors are warning how long we wait as there will be doctor shortages and how ill our health care will be very soon. None of this is new news however.

Therefore we have heard Senator and Representative Candidates both at state and federal levels promise to do all they can to stop or repeal this thing, particularly in those affiliated with the Republican Party. And indeed obamacare should be front and center of our concerns along with the massive debt strapped on us current tax payers and generations to come.

But, there are wise ways to fight against this draconian law and there are ways that are not at all favorable. This is one place where I see experience in politics sure counts. No matter if we like the politics of politics or not...the fact is politics is part of government. For just what is government? It is politics (from Encarta Dictionary): “Politics: Activities associated with government; the theory and practice of government, especially the activities associated with governing, with obtaining legislative or executive power, or with forming and running organizations connected with government.” So there is no way to get politics out of our government and to have none is totally unacceptable as we would have such a run amok land that anything goes…it’s called anarchy.

I'll use this link so we can see a bit of the attention 15 (+ or -) Senators have gained as it is short and to the point: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/07/22/1225664/-GOP-Senator-We-ll-shut-down-government-to-kill-nbsp-Obamacare#

Some sight the upcoming budget battle as the last chance to destroy obamacare. But in all honesty as long as Obama sits in the oval office, Reid heads the Senate along with Biden obamacare is not going anyplace. It will be there no matter what. Still that does not mean we cannot fight to do as much hacking and chopping as we can to cause damage to that monster until we gain more than a lame duck congress that we have at current. But, we need to be smart about it.

The continuing resolution is a tool used when the chambers of congress and the executive branch cannot agree upon a budget. It keeps the lights on. In essence the part of the HR 32 bill that actually funds obamacare is about $10 billion dollars. To end this resolution by shutting down the government in my view is not too bright. Just think where Obama can go with this...Seniors may lose there SS...now there goes Granny off the cliff again. Military may lose their pay...oh boy, cannot wait to see that commercial. There will be money to fund the government while congress takes an extended vacation. But, Obama and his minions will still be there and that includes his treasurer. Benanke could very well carry out the orders to hold all government checks…All for the sake of about $10 billion dollars.

I do hope one thing we don't see is Boehner behind closed doors with Obama trying to make a deal. I also hope we don't see just the leaders meeting in the same manner, but that would be better than one on one especially since many of us think Speaker Boehner lacks backbone. However it goes I hope too that more look at another alternative. Maybe it will fly...maybe it won't. In a lame duck congress all we can do is sit and spin round and round like riding in the tubs at an amusement park. Are we amused yet America? I am dizzy. Please lend us a congress that can get us off this tilt o whirl! Not playing smart politics right now...well it could sure give us total lop sided or even worse...back to what got this dang law passed to begin with. PLAY SMART CONSERVATIVES!
