Tea Party Takes Aim at Obamacare in New Video

Americans for Prosperity is launching a $1 million advertising effort against Obamacare.

The tea party-allied group is countering the White House's own efforts to gin up support for President Barack Obama's signature health care mandate that takes effect Jan. 1.

Americans for Prosperity intends to begin with $700,000 in TV and online ads, including a website for individuals to calculate how much Obamacare will cost them personally, The Hill reports.

"With so much disinformation out there, we felt it was extremely important to educate those who are most likely to suffer negative effects under Obamacare, and help keep them informed and prepared," AFP President Tim Phillips told The Hill.

The ad says Americans won't be able to choose their own doctor, despite Obama promising that they would. And a mother tells of her sick son who won't get access to the same quality care once the law takes effect.

"Two years ago, my son Caleb began having seizures," says the woman, identified as Julie. "The medical care he received meant the world to me. Now, I'm paying more attention and I have some questions about Obamacare," she says.

"Can I really trust the folks in Washington with my family's healthcare?" she concludes. "I think we all deserve some answers."

The ad will air first in Ohio and Virginia, both swing states
