THE KID WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
I have to give kudos to the young kid in South Carolina the valedictorian of his class. He handed in his approved speech, which was to have no religious content. No mention of any religion. This was as a result of a Wisconsin group that sued his school. This group wants no mention of religion.
This young kid defied the order and instead tore up his speech and said the Lord's Prayer. This was highly emotive for me. If he can be this brave should we not all stand up for freedom of religion? For I have granddaughter who has faced the bullying from the left as she spoke out about Obama. Yet she is not a leaf being tossed and turned by the storm; instead, she too is a steadfast, stoic, staunch outspoken 18-year-old, today June 7.
While I watched my granddaughter receive her diploma, I wondered what will she do when sent to a liberal college. I have no fear for her--she has faced everyday those who hate God, family, and conservatives. She too has given speeches at her school on how Obama is the great destroyer of freedom. I know that both this young man and my granddaughter are the future of our country. They are not alone in their desires to call what they see as wrong.
She will attend a liberal college I do not believe there is a conservative one anymore. She is prepared. I wish in my youth I had the character of these kids. Iit did not happen until I matured, received an education later in life, and had to protect my children. To have such vision, such assurance, and the drive to stand up for your convictions at a tender age is awe inspiring. While we have atheists screaming louder, forming hate groups, I smile. I was always supportive of atheists until recently. I do not mean the "true atheist"-- they do not need groups, churches, clubs--they stand alone; these atheists do not attack but debate. I respect them. I do not respect those that come on the internet and attack Christians. My thoughts are that everyone should say what they believe in and no Christian should attack atheists. I have seen that too. What the atheist attacks have done is bring me back to my beliefs in Christ. That does not mean I cannot think, process, or ask questions that drive most preachers mad. I have often drawn conclusions that many Christians would not accept. Yet I no longer allow that to separate my education from loving Christ. After a long history of learning all histories of religions, anthropology, and science, I have never left my faith. What I have learned is not to have an intellectual debate with "attack atheists". In academia Atheist and Christian are supposed to debate civilly without attacks.
