America's Gun Culture vs Non Armed Israel?

Did you see on FN a report about fences and two armed guards in every Israeli school? One student says, she does not feel like a prisoner but safe. Makes sense to me. But, one report also suggest that Israeli has no 2d Amendment, or no gun culture as we do in the good ole USA. That report is a little misleading. I realize that Jenna did do some investigating journalism, but not a study that she may have presented the full story instead of a part of it. First, let's look at the report:

In defense of the fair and balanced Fox News I present more from FN's on the subject.

But to really understand all, we have to examine more of the whole picture; Such as this: "How, then, to explain Israel’s relatively low rate of gun-related deaths? For Lior Nedivi, an independent firearms examiner in Jerusalem and the co-author of a comprehensive report comparing Israel’s gun laws and culture to that of the United States, the answer lies far from the law books. “An armed society,” Nedivi wrote, quoting the science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein, “is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.” It may be a bit odd to think of Israeli society as polite, but when it comes to guns it is, and for just the reason articulated by Heinlein: When everyone has a gun, guns are no longer seen as talismans by weak, frightened, and unstable men seeking a sense of self-validation, but as killing machines that are to be handled with the utmost caution and care."http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/119408/why-israel-has-no-newtowns/2

Israel and the USA are two separate cultures. Yes, Israel has become more Westernized and is a close ally with the US but the culture is very different. To compare the two is like apples and oranges; both in the fruit family but not the same. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/index.html

Still we can and should take some of those lessons from Israel. For instance: We talk of putting our returning soldiers to work guarding our schools...and Israel does that very well too. But there is one thing we need before we can think of following Israel's lead. That is that Israel with such great numbers of men and women who must serve their military also has unrestricted and abundant programs for treating such things as PTSD of which recently we had one of our great former Navy Seals, Chris Kyle, gunned down by a vet who suffered from PTSD while he tried to help him over come it. Again...comparing apples to oranges at this stage of our conversation. " In Israel, still a somewhat socialist country, mental health services are ready available, for free, to anyone. And because so many young Israelis undergo traumatic experiences in the course of their military service, a whole host of nonprofit organizations are on hand to provide counseling and treatment. We must do the same. Rather than pretend that it was the objects in their hands rather than the afflictions in their minds that led Lanza and Holmes and Cho and the others to perpetrate their monstrosities, we should offer help to those young men and their families. We have no more compassionate route, and no greater hope for peace."
