Shocker: 40 percent of Americans don’t think college professors share values of American society
Convinced that college professors don’t share the values of American society? Turns out you’re not alone.
A new study from Rasmussen Reports found that only one in four Americans believe that most full-time college professors share the values of American society, compared to 40 percent who think college profs actually oppose American values. The study also found that 45 percent of Americans believe that colleges and universities should uphold the values of American society, while only 18 percent of adults think the schools should challenge those values.
This isn’t the first time that polls have showed that college professors aren’t in line with the American public’s values. A Reason-Rupe study of California public school teachers from December 2012 found that 53 percent of Californians believe that the professors in the state’s public universities teach with a bias.
