THE STATE OF THE SOUL
In January of each year our
president gives the “State of the Union”
Address.
According to Wikipedia, “The State of the Union Address is an annual
event in which the President of the United States reports on the status of the
country, normally to a joint session of the U.S. Congress (the House of
Representatives and the Senate). The address is also used to outline the
President's legislative proposals for the upcoming year. It has occurred in
January except for 6 occasions in February since 1934.
“Modeled after the Speech from the
Throne, the requirement for the address is written into the United States
Constitution: ‘The President shall from
time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and
recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and
expedient.’ (Article II, Section 3) This requirement does not specify the
address's form, frequency, or depth of information. Although all Presidents
have given an annual message, its form has changed over time…
“For many years, the speech was referred to as ‘the President's Annual Message to Congress." The
actual term "State of the Union" did not become widely used until
after 1935 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt began using the phrase.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_the_Union_Address
Of course messages and written
documents similar to the State of the Union message are often presented.
Messages are given on the “State of the State” in many places, or “the state of
the city”.
What would happen if we gave a State of the Church presentation? With the
Goal: To show how we are can gage the very
state of our Christianity, with the Objective:
To challenge our Christianity, trying to see us the way God sees us,
Honestly looking at our very own hearts within us. How does God view us?
Jesus in his first sermon gives a state of the Heart, message. That we can gage our very own Christianity by,
and This morning I would like to focus on 11 verses of his sermon.

us, 37
A.
What kind of Judging are we not to
do
1.
John 8:8-9
2.
Ro 14:4 Who are you to judge
another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be
made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
3.
Ro 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or
why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the
judgment seat of Christ.
4.
Ro 14:13 Therefore let us not judge one
another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a
cause to fall in our brother's way.
B.
What Kind of judging are we to do
1.
Righteous Judgment
2.
Joh 5:30 "I can of Myself do

to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 "And yet if I do judge, My judgment is
true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me.
4.
(concerning brothers taking brothers
to law) 1Co 6:5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise
man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?
5.
Concerning sinners, those outside of
Christ,\
2Ti 4:1 ¶ I charge you therefore
before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at
His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of
season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to
their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for
themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and
be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

IV.
Forgiveness we have toward those enemies
of ours who hurt us 37

1) release from
bondage or imprisonment

one another, envying one another.

trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
6. Lu 17:1 ¶ Then He said to the disciples, "It is
impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do
come! 2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his
neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these
little ones. 3 "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you,
rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 "And if he sins against you
seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I
repent,' you shall forgive him." 5 And the apostles said to the Lord,
"Increase our faith."
Conclusion: Joh 13:35
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another."
Eph 4:2 ¶ with all
lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in
the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the
blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1Jo 3:11 ¶ For this is the message that you
heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
1Jo 3:23 ¶ And this is His commandment: that
we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as
He gave us commandment.
1Jo 4:7 ¶ Beloved, let us love one another,
for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
1Jo 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also
ought to love one another.
1Jo 4:12 No one has seen God at any time. If
we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
2Jo 1:5 ¶ And now I plead with you, lady, not
as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the
beginning: that we love one another.
1.
Loving one
another as Christians means, treating them better then we treat our
enemies. If we are to do good to those
who hate us, how much more to those who wear the name of Christ? Love them,
a) to welcome, to entertain, to be fond
of, to love dearly
b) A willed loved, an action of
kindness,
2.
Bless them by praying for them
3.
Give to them what they ask for.
4.
If we are to treat our enemies like we
would want to be treated, what about those in the body of Christ? We are to esteem our Christian family, Prefer
our brethren even higher than our ourselves, even when we are hurt by one
another.
