That’s the message from the chart below — from Turbometrics — that details employment trends in each of the 50 states over the past month, year, and even five years.
In almost every category, North Dakota, thanks in large part to an oil boom, has experienced the biggest growth in the country — more than 16 percent over the past five years — with no other state even coming close. (Sorry, Texas!)

One broader point worth noting from the maps below: The economy in the states is better almost everywhere than it was a year  – and three years — ago but nowhere near as healthy as it was five years ago.
