Kentucky Sheriff Says His Office Would Oppose Any Gun Confiscation Laws

According to RedState.com, Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman has some advice for federal officials attempting to confiscate legal guns held by citizens in his jurisdiction: “go ahead, make my day.”
“My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Peyman said. “Let them pull that stuff in other places if they want, but not in Jackson County, Kentucky.”
“Just a few of us have to be willing to stand up to political opposition putting our people at risk,” Peyman said. “The other side will back down.”
The sheriff joins Sheriff Scott Berry, who has taken his office’s business elsewhere after a local police supply company stopped selling semi automatic rifles to civilians, and other local sheriffs who are increasingly speaking out against more gun control.
County sheriffs are usually the highest law elected law enforcement office in their respective counties, and one of the only law enforcement officers that answers directly to the voters.
