Between the lines I know they fear for their son ... their daughter is also
serving in the IDF ... she is active so was not "called up"
It is no fun knowing what was to come
I fear they will not stop this time
Shalom Fellow,
As all of you know by now, after hundreds of rockets have fallen into our
cities and towns, Israel is again engaged in a war in the south. We will not be
surprised, of course, if and when condemnations start being fired at us from
many nations for defending ourselves.
This morning our son, along with thousands of other reserve duty soldiers,
was called into active duty for a possible incursion into Gaza. We have had a
guest staying with us for the last couple of days, and she went along when we
took Yonatan to the military rendezvous in a nearby town. On the way she shared
a scripture she read on the day she arrived in Israel (back in September). This
scripture was part of her daily scheduled reading program: "Be strong and
courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before
all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is YHVH our Elohim, to help us and to
fight our battles. And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah
king of Judah? (2 Chronicles 32:7-8). Needless to say, this was a greatly
encouraging word for us at this time.
We also do not want to dismiss that fact that war is not on the side of the
blessings. So, with the numerous prayers going up for Israel at this time, a
priority prayer should be for repentance; turning away from sin, so widespread
in our land, to YHVH our Elohim. Many life saving miracles, typically occur at
such times, as indeed we have seen in the past few days too. Let us pray
therefore that there will be an awakening as to the Source of these miraculous
acts, and to what His character and Word require from the People of Israel. And
while the citizens are showing resolve and endurance, having waited long for
resolute action to be taken on their behalf, yet without acknowledgment of the
sovereignty of the Holy One of Israel, and His role in this situation, we may
have to face the same state of affairs in the future. As YHVH spares lives of
this branch of Abraham?s family, may He also spare the lives of Abraham?s other
relatives, those who are placed as human shields by their corrupt leaders, and
who are not desiring to take part in this outrageous burst of insanity.
Talking of Abraham, one cannot help but face the fact that much like Adam
before him, he too brought upon us the present grave consequences because of his
failure to provide the proper leadership for his wife and say ?no? to the
temptation to disobey YHVH, especially when Sarah fell into unbelief, like her
predecessor Eve; unbelief which led to the attempt to force YHVH?s word into
fulfillment. Times such as these enable us to experience rude awakenings and
take stock of ourselves too, in light of our ancestry (including the very early
ones)? May we all be counted and be in our YHVH-led stations at this time, as we
listen to, and obey the Commander in Chief of the Armies of Israel.
We want to thank all of you who have been so gracious and faithful in your
prayers for us and for Israel in general.
