The Night I Heard The Angels Sing
The story of Daniel Nash by Lisa Shulz reminded me of a missionary I met in Dallas, Texas around 1996. I can only remember her first name, Linda, but she was staying at a friend's home at the same time we were when Jake had been asked to speak for a rally the next day.
That evening Linda told us how she would hear the Lord's voice telling her to prepare to go on a mission and He would tell her when to go to the airport. On faith she followed His directions and when she arrived, there would be someone waiting to hand her the tickets. When she arrived at her destination another person or groups of people would meet her and tell her they had been sent to greet her. At least three times she went all around the world, wherever He sent her, to minister with the people. She played an instrument that I was not at that time familiar with called a lap harp.
That evening, while the others visiting the night before the event (about 12 or more) were gathered outside on the patio, Linda and I remained inside in the living room. She started to teach me one of the praise and worship songs that she taught wherever the LORD had sent her. I then started playing the tune on the piano.
When we stopped playing and singing, the choir and orchestra stopped as well. During the time I had been playing and singing I had been facing a wall. When I turned around, there was no one in the room with us ... just Linda and me! We looked at each other and she asked, "You heard them too?"
"Oh yes ... but where are they?"
"It was the LORD's angels praising and worshiping with us. Let's play and sing again and see what happens."
Once again, we began to play and sing and the choir once again sang with us. When we stopped ... they stopped. When we sang again, they sang with us.
Someone from outside came in when we were finished and asked, "Where was all of that beautiful music coming from? We heard the singing and the musical instruments, but when we looked in the window, all we could see was the two of you."
This was an experience I will remember all the days of my life. It still brings tears of joy to my eyes when I remember that night in Dallas. I have never since experienced anything like this, although I have longed for it to happen time and time again.
