My Country, 'Tis of Thee

The real deal.

Disclaimer: I have noticed that the posting of various anthems (no matter which country) inevitably leads to a lot of childish arguing. Personally, I am (and like many others) an American; my ancestors came to America from England and fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, and many others. Although I'm a patriotic American, I do believe that there's a lot of bullshit that our government does. Likewise, our culture has deteriorated into it's present state and will continue to deteriorate because no one is willing to do anything about it. With that said, I obviously do not mind INTELLIGENT discussions, but please keep the idiocy to a minimum. Keep in mind that this is the Internet, and as such, it doesn't matter if someone doesn't agree with you at the end of the day; they're just another nameless face on the World Wide Web.

Thank you, and enjoy this fine anthem that was written by Samuel Francis Smith and based upon the melody of God Save the Queen.

 My country tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture fills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our father's God to, Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!
