Alterations to the UN Charter:

Certain alterations were made by the San Francisco Conference in the plans prepared at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington DC. Attention was given to the interests of the people as distinct from the nations of the world and it was stated that one of the purposes of the United Nations was to achieve international cooperation promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedom for all without distinction as to race, sex, race or religion.

A preamble was added to the Charter expressing the fundamental aim of the United Nations. The scope of the Economic and Social Council was extended and although still functioning under the authority of the General Assembly it was made one of the principal organs of the United Nations. An entirely new section on the trusteeship for dependent people was added to the Charter and a Trusteeship Council was created as another principal organ to supercede the International Trusteeship.
