Virginia Laws of Religious Liberty:

January 16,1786 “Well aware that Almighty God has created the mind free; that all attempts to influence it by temporal punishment or burdens or by civil incapacitations is a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion. Franklin: Preamble of the Constitution: September 17,1787 ratified May 29,1790.

“We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare. insure domestic tranquility and secure the Blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution of the United States of America.

” Article 1 section 7: “If any bill shall not be returned by the president within 10 days (Sundays excepted) done in convention by unanimous consent by the States present on September 17,1787 it is passed.
