Barack Obama's Top 10 Failures, No Surprises (so far)

Since 2009, Things Have Gone Predicatively Badly For President Obama

Back in late 2008 when all of my Liberal friends here in Massachusetts were gushing over the election of Barack Obama, I would often ask a simple question.  This question was nearly always met with one of two reply's, on some occasions both at once.
President Obama Running On Empty From Day One

The question was a simple one, "what are his job qualifications to be President of the United States?"

The reply's were nearly always the same, " people just don't like him because he's black, are you a racist" or "he can't be any worse the GW Bush". On one occasion when I asked the question the only response was "you MUST be a racist"..since then, that same person has said "Obama has been such a huge disappointment,  Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid did it all for him until the midterm".

Curiously my question was no different than the one often posed by MSNBC's Chris Mathews when he was all on board and backing Hillary Clinton, he also got no rational response from his guests. He then of course had the infamous "shiver up my leg" and dumped old Hillary like a hot potato. After all in the world of Liberal logic, a first woman President gets trumped by a First Black President. (even if he's half white, close enough!)

For me, qualifications count when making decisions to hire someone. Would you hire a contractor who had never built a house? Work with a Doctor for a heart condition who's only experience was that of a podiatrist?

So how has it gone these last four and half years? Has the Nation moved forward the way his supporters envisioned?

Here are what I think are his biggest flops and failures, all caused by his inexperience. .

  1. Spying on Americans; The misuse of two sections to the Patriot Act and FISA Section 215 and FISA Amendments Act of 2008. Section 1881a. Which is now widely viewed as probably un-Constitutional, which has since lead to the NSA Scandal and Edward Snowden leaks. Despite President Obama's campaign promises to encourage whistle blower's, this administration has bent more laws to attack these brave folks than any President in history.
  2. Second Amendment  Following the Newtown Shooting the White House and the left embarked on an outright attack. Before and after becoming President Mr. Obama had said many times he didn't think American should own "any guns"..he used "Newtown" like a cheap prom date to try and get his wish, or at least further curtail those rights.
  3. Dividing the Nation; No president in my lifetime has spent the amount of energy this President has in dividing the country like a surgeon to promote his agenda. He's managed to pit "illegal Immigrants and the left against law abiding American citizens as well as legal immigrants", "minorities against imaginary right wing bigots", "Pro-Abortion advocates against Pro-Life advocates", "welfare recipients against working people", etc. This intentional dividing at the least encouraged the IRS to target Conservative Groups seeking Tax Exempt Status's, with many being audited by the agency.
  4. The Economy, since entering office the only response coming from the White House on every issue has been.."more Government investment" and "making taxes more fair". Translation? Increased Debt, bigger Government and let us take more because we can more effectively manage the money American's have earned. Despite his best efforts, the economy is in fact doing as well as anyone had anticipated 5 years ago without adding trillions more to the debt than he already has and taking much more in taxes.
  5. Energy, Mr. Obama dove head first into subsidizing "renewable energy", while forgetting altogether their needs to be DEMAND to make such subsidies an actual investment. The US has lost Billions. Meanwhile the private sector has flooded the market with natural gas, enough to run the country for the next 100 years. This surplus keeps growing without one bit of help from the Federal Government to increase consumer access. The Keystone XL meanwhile is being stalled making an opening for the Chinese to contract for all of the output which will be processed with little to no regulation from an environmental standpoint.
  6. Building Consensus: His complete inability to work with the other side of the political aisle and build relationships in DC with either party. While the left loves to point at the Tea Party and the Republicans for not being more co-operative, this situation didn't happen in a vacuum. One of the jobs of  president's is to build trusting relationships. Heck even George Bush did that. President Obama during his first term, he then had control basically of both Houses, he simply rode rough shod over the other party repeatedly. When it came time for the mid-term elections, Americans went to the pols to change that. Afterwards the in-experienced Obama doubled down on his demands and opted for the "it's their fault" angle when things didn't go his way. The "My Way or The Highway" form of governing went out with King George.
  7. Afghanistan is a debacle, the Surge has resulted in more losses of American lives by a multiple of 3 in four years than in the previous 8. The now well known "secret drone program" has killed hundreds of children under the age of 12 and thousands of non-combatants. The country is no closer today to a peaceful settlement than it was in 2008.
  8. The Middle East. As of today the region is more dangerous geo-politically than at any time in American history. The US is basically "persona non grata" in Libya after dissing the president of the country following the Benghazi cover up. Israel is ignoring us. Iraq is now backing Syria and siding with Iran. Relations with Pakistan have never been worse. Lebanon is teetering. The US has been directly and indirectly allowing arms to flow into the hands of Syrian rebels for almost 2 years including offshoots of al Qaeda.
  9. Al Qaeda, is now the stronger and more widespread than at anytime in their history. With tens of thousands of fighters spread out through the Middle East as well as Africa.
  10. Relations with China and Russia. To say they are strained would be an understatement. For the last five years despite making several ham handed attempts with China to discuss; currency, trade, human rights, North Korea and the environment each has resulted in utter failure. Apparently no one told the White House or the State Department that Diplomacy must include the wishes and desires of BOTH sides..where is Henry Kissinger when you need him. As for Russia, the Russians HATE weaklings and will exploit it at every turn, which they have. The idea of Obama going "toe to toe" with the likes of Putin is laughable. Just how bad our relations are right now with these two countries was demonstrated by BOTH refusing to assist the US in getting Edward Snowden picked up and sent back. They gave Obama the "political finger..."

Obama Epilogue, The Lame Duck

So here we are, the President has been forced yet again to change the subject on everything. He's now onto his latest kick which is "The Environment", will it go anywhere? Not a chance, the real hope is American's will quickly forget or get used to being spied on and lied to, while overlooking how little has been accomplished as this administration slips into irrelevancy as it's failures come into clarity.

Experience and competence counts...without it, you get what we've gotten since January of 2009. The Amateur Hour on an endless loop.
