Thoughts on the Bundy Ranch Standoff

by

I haven’t commented as of yet on the Bundy ranch incident. I’ve been thinking about it and would like to share a few observations and maybe a question or two.

During the standoff: “They are flying helicopters over the herd to chase them,” Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven said. “It was over 90 degrees here today, and the cattle can’t run very far in this heat before collapsing. This is especially true for the young calves. We have a lot of them being born because it is springtime, and they don’t have the strength to keep up with their mothers when they are running. The cattle then become overheated and die.”

So my first question is, where’s PETA? Where are the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals? Are they not an animal rights organization? Do they not protest the mistreatment of any animal, or do cattle not count? Or is it just like the NOW gang, the National Organization of Liberal Women, who just pretend to be for women’s rights unless it’s a liberal man who’s the abuser; and then it’s silence. Is PETA just another left wing radical group who only protest animal abuses by the right? In a word – Yep! No matter how many cattle were intentionally or accidently killed, you won’t here a peep from PETA. Not as long as Obama is king.

During the standoff Bundy’s wife Carol said it appeared snipers surrounded the family’s 150 acre ranch.

I wasn’t there, but I have heard from more than just Mrs. Bundy that there were indeed snipers posted about. If she was able to spot them, I can only conclude that they wanted to be seen or were ordered not to cover and remain in plain sight. And if that was the case, the obvious question is, Gee, I wonder why? Could it be for intimidation? Once again, I would say – Yep!

And what’s with all the snipers? It seems every darn federal department now has their own army complete with its own sniper corps. My guess is that snipers have a pretty low unemployment rate these days. Who would have guessed that would be the growth industry of the future. Maybe ITT Tech should start a sniper school.

Kay Sessions, Dave Bundy’s aunt (Cliven’s son), told WND, “He was trying to get pictures of what government officials are doing and they confiscated his camera and tablet. They hauled him to jail and interrogated him all night before letting him go. Before they took him to jail officials left him in a hot vehicle for three hours.

Just imagine if this were a republican administration treating a reporter or Occupy Wall Street person in this way. What would be the reaction of the main stream media? But once again, we heard and will hear nothing but silence.

And imagine if that were a small child left in a hot car for 3 hours. The authorities would be all over it. Even worse if it were a pet.

Now what of the “First Amendment area” set up by the feds. It was a small corral set away from everything.

“Most disturbing to me is the BLM’s establishment of a ‘First Amendment area’ that tramples upon Nevadans’ fundamental rights under the U.S. Constitution,” Nevada governor Sandoval said in a statement.

I don’t see what the problem is? We don’t want protestors just mucking about everywhere – just getting in the way of important government business, do we? I think I read that in the Constitution, right next to the separation of church and state clause.

But this is indeed the trend. Rather than limit free speech, the left is just limiting the area where it may be practiced. Just look at colleges across the country. Many have set up “Free Speech Zones”, tiny little concrete slabs place far away from everything and everyone. Recall the incident of the young man prohibited from passing out Constitutions. The college restricted him to a tiny little area.

This behavior by both government and academia doesn’t surprise me a bit. Most are progressive intellectual weenies who would just as soon rid us of the Constitution and original intent, in favor of the progressive FDR model anyway. I’m sure they see no problem limiting free speech, as long as they are the ones deciding what and who to limit.

I frankly don’t know the whole story of the Bundy / Government conflict. If I were to guess, Bundy was probably more right than wrong.

And according to Dirty Harry Reid, it ain’t over, but I’m sure we all knew the government wouldn’t just walk away.

It’s okay by the left to lose a foreign war or conflict, but when it comes to battling it’s own citizens – well, defeat is not an option!
